19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback the Russian player secured his maiden title for over two years with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has had a challenging season, managing just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a setback at the American major.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently progressed in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is the player's maiden title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," stated tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six championship matches, including in Halle previously this season.

His defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on court had caused commentators to doubt if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the final five games to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial professional victory, seized the initiative to push for a final set.

Moutet defended 4 early break points in a close final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, he secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to handle a return after over two and a half hours.
